Sculptra®

WHAT IS SCULPTRA?

Sculptra is a biostimulator that contains a substance called PLLA (Poly-L-lactic acid) which is injected just under the skin. There the PLLA works with your body to stimulate and revitalise natural collagen production. As collagen production occurs the skin begins to regain its structure and volume to give a fuller, younger looking face.

HOW IS THIS TREATMENT DIFFERENT?

Collagen stimulating poly-l-lactic acid injectable treatments have an advantage over temporary dermal filler treatments as many of us are now choosing to focus on investing in the future of our face and skin in favour of gradual long term gain. While dermal fillers will give an immediate result, with Sculptra the results develop slowly over time and continue to develop and can last over two years after the last treatment. The results are gradual and very natural looking. Not only is collagen produced, but also elastin and hyaluronic acid which gives the tissue strength and luminosity.

WHO IS THE IDEAL SCULPTRA CLIENT?

This treatment is ideal for those who have lost facial volume, or are experiencing loose or sagging skin who want gradual results that last.

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE AND HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Sculptra is a 45 – 60 minutes treatment. The number of treatments required is dependent on the loss of volume and elasticity. Most clients require an initial course of two treatments based approximately 6 weeks apart, while others who have more substantial volume loss may require a third treatment. After that you can maintain the result with an annual treatment.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

The most common side effects may include small bumps under the skin that are sometimes noticeable when pressing on the treated area. These disperse quickly and can be avoided with post treatment massage. Your practitioner will advise you on this. You may experience slight bruising or tenderness at the injection site which usually disappears in 2-3 days.

ARE THERE SPECIAL AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS?

To ensure you achieve optimal results it is important to massage the treated areas using a moisturising cream for 5 mins, 5 times a day for 5 days after the treatment.

HOW MUCH IS A SCULPTRA TREATMENT?

Sculptra costs $950 for one vial, $1500 for two vials. It is a very cost-effective treatment for pan facial restoration where the alternative treatment with dermal filler would require many syringes.
